How to Escape From Zip Ties

Escaping Zip Ties

(ModernSurvival.org) – Zip ties are commonly used to restrain victims during home invasions and kidnappings. They’re cheap and hard to break out of — making them a top choice for criminals. However, zip tie restraints can be broken with the proper know-how and a little effort.

To show us how it’s done, BlackScoutSurvival has provided a quick video of what to do when bound with zip ties:

The key to successfully breaking a zip tie restraint is to make sure it is on as tight as possible. This will create more tension on the plastic, which helps snap it when pressure is applied. To do this, grab the loose end with your teeth and pull until all the slack is gone from the loop.

Now, it’s time to break the bonds. Raise your hands up above the head, then pull them down quickly into your midsection. When they hit, the force will snap the bindings apart.

Preparing for the unexpected is key to survival. No one plans on being kidnapped or forced into restraints, but knowing how to escape should that scenario play out can save your life. For information on how to escape duct tape bindings, click here.
