(ModernSurvival.org) – In a survival situation, what is rabbit starvation?

• Very lean rabbits

• Diseased rabbits

• Malnourished rabbits

• Endangered rabbits

Answer: Very Lean Rabbits. Here’s why…

In a survival situation, replacing the calories and nutrients spent each day is critical. Starvation is a horrible way to go, and the effects it has on the human body can make finding more food more difficult.

Unfortunately, in some instances, having food on hand isn’t enough to survive. This is the case when people simply trying to survive unknowingly succumb to rabbit starvation.

What is Rabbit Starvation?

Rabbit starvation, also known as protein poisoning, is a condition that arises from consuming a diet consisting of mostly lean meats and lacking carbohydrates and fats. The following symptoms are associated with rabbit starvation:

  • Diarrhea
  • Weakness/Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Slow Heart Rate

Rabbit starvation is a life-threatening condition when fatty foods aren’t available. The symptoms associated with rabbit starvation make the basic day-to-day activities of a survival situation vastly more difficult, as well. It’s hard to find other sources of food when the body doesn’t want to work.

How to Avoid Rabbit Starvation

Rabbit meat is mostly protein, so avoiding protein poisoning requires a varied diet. Adding fish, nuts, grubs, or edible mushrooms and berries to the mix will provide some much-needed fats. Be careful with berries and mushrooms, as many varieties are poisonous.
